Programmes

Matribhumi as such will never prescribe any set of programmes to be run uniformly across the geography. It has not prioritized and will not prioritize any issue or themes as we have experienced that if issue or themes are prioritized, we tend to be blind to other equally important issues. Matribhumi will work towards building collective initiatives through youth’s action, developing creativity within children & youth, building sense of dignity, equity & justice, along with a spirit of cooperation and service. The programmes will be guided by the needs and aspirations of the local people, specially the youth, child focused to girl child. Matribhumi will train and empower the local youths to address the diverse issues of the region.

Matribhumi will mainly concentrate its activities in the rural India as urban centres are relatively privileged in comparison to rural. It will engage with the rural youths, children and women so as to make them equal partners in the process of development. The talent in the remote rural areas is hidden and does not find enough spaces and opportunities for growth and demonstration and contribution to the larger development processes. Matribhumi is dedicated to un-earth such talent, provide opportunities and make them socially empowered. Matribhumi believes that every individual has immense potential and need is to provide an environment for proper germination and growth of the potential.

Matribhumi strives to promote a peaceful and just society through active involvement of children, youth and women in social mobilization, educating them on their constitutional rights & duties, encouraging people’s initiatives to resolve the local issues, etc. It organizes workshops, trainings, gatherings and camps for children, youth & women and promotes participation of youth in different national and international forums in order to empower the youth. It strives to provide value-oriented education, establish values of non-violence, promotion of socially relevant traditional cultures, inter-religious harmony and such social-cultural and environmental issues.

Programmes under Matribhumi aims at inculcating knowledge of and respect for social values such as a sense of national integrity with unity in diversity, cultural unity, democratic values and faith in secularism. Programmes will be addressed towards promotion of physical fitness through games & sports, adventurous activities to develop the spirit of risk taking, team work and endurance. Outstanding youths will be recognized and rewarded through rendering higher responsibilities, awards, scholarships, etc.

In this backdrop, Matribhumi focuses on the "YOUTH" as a constituency of its work.

The principles to be followed in programme designing

• The programme to address the issues of equity, specially gender equity. Emphasis will be on girls and women participation and empowerment.
• No programme will be initiated by external people. All the initiative to be initiated locally through youths or the link person of that area. Such initiative will be treated as a nucleus of development. This is for sustainability of the process.
• The programme will be designed in such a way to identify the talents/ potentials in the youth, groom them and provide appropriate forum for participation at larger level.
• The programme will focus rural youths for providing opportunity for learning, participation and contribution to the society.
• Programme will invite larger involvement of adults, retired persons, and government officials in the youth development processes.
• The programme in no case will involve political parties and affiliations in organizational processes.
• All the programmes will be conducted in the rural villages only and will not utilize urban/ semi urban infra-structure, resources and will try to build infra-structural facilities in the villages. This is in view to build more opportunities in the rural areas.
• Programme will promote traditional games & sports, relevant knowledge and provide opportunities to the left out on every sense.
